State saw a decrease in new orders and manufacturing production.
Although the United States as a whole saw a manufacturing boost at the end of 2012, the good fortune did not extend across all states.
Georgia’s Purchasing Manager Index decreased 1.2% in December, to 45.2 points, according to a report from Kennesaw State University (via the Atlanta Journal Constitution).
A decrease in new orders and manufacturing production led to slip, according to the school’s Econometric Center.
The decline “reveals continued weakness for Georgia manufacturing," says Don Sabbarese, director of the center. "Even after considering a seasonal influence, Georgia manufacturing appears to remain soft as it enters 2013.”
However, the state did see an increase in manufacturing employment and finished inventory.
