Sergio Marchionne, chairman and CEO of Chrysler, is set to make a major announcement about more investments in Indiana facilities.

State Gov. Mike Pence will join Marchionne February 28, 2013, at the Kokomo Transmission Plant to announce investments and jobs to boost transmission manufacturing in the state, according to the Kokomo Tribune.

The announcement comes after officials for the automaker said last year they intend to make more efficient eight and nine speed transmissions in Kokomo plants.

According to the Kokomo Tribune, “Local officials approved abatements on what is expected to be a $1.3 billion investment in new transmission manufacturing lines.” That would be enough to create up to 450 jobs.

In December, Chrysler officials announced plans to invest $162 million in equipment at a plant in nearby Tipton, IN, creating 850 jobs.
